Wrapping education around new and emerging fitness trends
Excelsior Development Technology is at the forefront of fitness education; working with some of the UK’s leading health club operators, leisure clubs and equipment manufacturers we are ideally placed to listen, learn from and lead the way in producing bespoke education that suits the ever changing landscape of health and wellness. Here are a few examples of how we’re wrapping education around the latest trends:
1. WELLNESS
If we were to pick just one trend to talk about this year it would be wellness – now a $1.5 trillion market globally according to McKinsey research, and growing by 5-10% a year. Identifying ‘multiple dimensions of wellness’ – health, fitness, sport, nutrition, appearance, sleep, and mindfulness”.
Another sub-trend of wellness is Recovery – this concept within clubs has been growing for a few years now with specific recovery rooms grouping together vibration training, cryotherapy, red light and other recovery modalities.
These new and engaging spaces offer added value and encourage member-to-member communication whilst interacting with PT’s in a relaxing and rejuvenating environment.
To support these new spaces within a ‘wellness’ environment we can develop specific stretch and relaxation sessions that can be delivered in a recovery room, studio or on the gym floor.
2. ENGAGING YOUTHS
More than ever, younger generations are focusing on their physical and mental health and with this drive comes the opportunity to make training habitual for teenagers. There is huge opportunity for growth and in line with Youth Sport Trust strategy for change, Excelsior has and can develop workshops that can be wrapped around the 6 key changemakers:
Equip educators
Empower young people
Unite a movement to reclaim play and sport in schools
Mobilise influencers
Champion physical literacy
Promote change from within
An example would be our Engaging Youths is a workshop which aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to timetable and deliver exercise technique to this age group. The focus is on communication and bringing the fun whilst embedding the appropriate programming for this specific audience.
3. FUNCTIONAL TRAINING
Advanced training or functional spaces have been around for decades but we are still seeing huge opportunities for growth with clubs requesting further development in these areas.
Excelsior has created and delivered learning courses for PT’s combined with user programming to enable consistent and standardised delivery to each and every member.
Our bespoke workshops focusing on lifting and functional training have been designed to increase the confidence and capability of instruction teams on the specifics of delivering strength training and small group training practices.
If all of this sounds expensive, time consuming or high risk, don’t worry – as part of Excelsior’s academy offering, you can learn how to identify your top instructors and teach them how to develop your wider team as you recruit more people that align to your values. This enables your business to cultivate teams and leaders from within, and build advocacy not only with customers but with personnel too.
It’s all about your people.
