Global Survey Finds 80% of Pilates Instructors Love Their Job
A global survey by Balanced Body® – the world’s leading resource for Pilates, mind-body movement equipment, and professional training – engaged over 800 instructors and highlighted that demand for Pilates continues to grow. Qualifying as a Pilates instructor offers an exciting and rewarding career path with high job satisfaction.
Pilates studios worldwide report rising demand, with classes regularly oversubscribed and studio owners needing to hire more instructors. Nearly all surveyed instructors expressed enthusiasm for their work and a passion for helping others.
Key findings:
77% of studios are growing, and 67% report full classes.
New Pilates instructors have increased by 15% since 2015, with 34% of instructors starting within the past 7 years.
40% of studio owners report needing more instructors, and 30% are actively hiring.

Additionally, a Pilates career offers flexibility, variety, and personal fulfilment:
84% enjoy a flexible schedule, working 4-5 hours daily or 15-20 hours weekly.
40% teach Pilates alongside another career.
33% of instructors have children, with 70% saying their Pilates career complements parenting.
Pilates has also enabled instructors to achieve entrepreneurial goals. Mychele Sims, an investigator with a federal agency and certified Pilates instructor, said: “Becoming an instructor helped me achieve my dream of owning a Pilates studio while juggling another career. Eight years later, I feel a great sense of pride knowing how many lives we’ve touched through Pilates.”
